"I took this photo in June, during my local Pride parade. It was originally a piece of joy, of pride, but it took on a feeling of resistance and strength for me because of Trans Day of Remembrance and the Club Q shooting. It was a way for me to connect to our community - to feel less alone -- as well as a way for me to process my grief and recognize the collective grief of our trans community. It's a vulnerable piece for me, but I felt compelled to create something during that time as a reminder too that we keep each other safe and must continue the work of protecting and fighting for each other."
