"Gender is a song about gender and how I relate to it as an autistic nonbinary person. It’s specifically about how the idea that some people only view gender as male or female is problematic and harmful. I actually wrote this song in the middle of class. A student kept using the wrong pronouns for me, when they have known me for over a year, and it just got me pissed off. Thinking about all the people who will look at how I express myself through fashion and assume a pair of pronouns for me, usually false ones."
